Which of the following explanations is more important and why?
(a) Because people are different.
(b) Because life situations of persons are different.
Answer:
Both statements are true, but (b) Because life situations of persons are different is more important.
People live in different environments, have different needs, and face different challenges. For example, a rich businessman might want better internet and global trade, while a rural farmer may want irrigation and fair crop prices. These differences in life situations shape their goals.
2. Do the following two statements mean the same? Justify your answer.
(a) People have different developmental goals.
(b) People have conflicting developmental goals.
Answer:
No, these two statements do not mean the same thing.
- Different goals mean people want different things (e.g., jobs, education, healthcare).
- Conflicting goals mean that one person’s development might harm another (e.g., a dam gives power to cities but floods tribal land).
So, while all conflicting goals are different, not all different goals are conflicting.
